Donatella’s words vs. deeds; Michael A. Reese; Beaver County Times; November 13, 2006.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“It is quite ironic that Beaver County Commissioners Chairman Dan Donatella stated that with the defeat of state Rep. Mike Veon our county will lose its monetary voice in Harrisburg.

“Correct me if I am wrong, but did not our great commissioner try and fail to rid the county of good-paying employment at our county jail.  Using taxpayer money to build parks and pretty streets is OK, but using them to fund long-term, decent-paying jobs is something to be eliminated?”

[RWC] Mr. Reese is comparing apples and oranges.

Apparently Mr. Reese believes providing employment is a government function.  The Commissioners’ first responsibility is to the taxpayers/voters of Beaver County, not government employees, just as business management’s first responsibility is to its owners.

Finally, you’d think the jail was packing up and moving to Timbuktu.
