Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.
“In reference to ‘What Boom?’ (May 5, 2013), I agree … what boom in employment? Where are the ‘jobs for Pennsylvanians?’
“It appears that the only increase in employment for Pennsylvanians in any way affiliated with the Marcellus shale project is that of fast food and hotel employees at minimum wage that service the workers coming in from other states.
“True, we shouldn’t expect one industry to bear the weight of boosting employment and regional economics on its shoulders, but is it not realistic to expect that industry to at least hire local workers?”
[RWC] Keep in mind this letter was written in response to a piece by someone who writes for an anti-Marcellus media group.
