Vote for ‘none of the above’; O.J. Schlueter; Beaver County Times; October 19, 2006.

Though I didn’t critique that letter, Mr. Schlueter’s April letter entitled “It’s time or a change” (no longer on the Times website) dumped on Messrs. LaValle, Rendell, and Veon.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“On Thursday, the debate between Santorum and Casey showed why ‘none of the above’ should receive our votes.

“Voters need to replace anyone currently holding any political office with someone who will represent the people in a more dignified manner.  Accusations were flying so fast that I could not even keep score.

“Santorum is perplexed as to where he lives, immigration is a major problem, we still can’t drill for our own oil, spending is out of control, no solution to the war, we need to be wary of offending anyone when we want to pray - and he wants re-elected?”

[RWC] With the possible exception of spending, Sen. Santorum supports and votes for positions Mr. Schlueter appears to support.

“Casey still has not recovered the taxpayer money from the legislators who have snubbed their noses at the taxpayers and are keeping the illegal money and the increased pensions that it generated.  Why would we as voters want this person to oversee even more of our money in Washington?

“But the best one was when Casey accused Santorum of losing jobs and health coverage for Pennsylvania residents, while the Rendell campaign ads are touting a growth of jobs and health coverage.

“We need to board up the capitols until we have good representation in Harrisburg and Washington.”

[RWC] What is Mr. Schlueter looking for?  In this letter, he told us not to vote for a candidate who appears to see most things the same as Mr. Schlueter.
