Obama elected for right reasons; Patti Shee; Beaver County Times; November 16, 2008.

Below is a detailed critique of the letter.

“This election is not a loss for liberty; I see it as hopes and dreams for America.

“Barack Obama will prevail in these times of desperation, greed and difficult economic times.

“Every time I listen to a song that Bruce Springsteen sings, it reminds me about what people in this country shall think about and learn how to respect one another.

“Here are some of the verses from this song: ‘I will provide for you and stand beside you ... Tomorrow will be sunshine ... Meet me in the land of hope and dreams.  This train carries saints and sinners, this train carries winners and losers, this train carries lost souls, and this train carries fools and gamblers, and this train bells of freedom ringing.’

“This song sums it all we need to do is look at one another as brothers and sisters.

“We should unite as one, stand beside each other and respect one another.  I feel deep in my soul we elected Obama for all the right reasons and he will make a great leader, which this country needs.”

[RWC] I have two points/questions.

First, Ms. Shee wrote, “We should unite as one, stand beside each other and respect one another.”  Where was Ms. Shee for the past eight years when lefties ceaselessly bashed President Bush and everyone in his administration?  I’m not talking about legitimate criticism; I’m talking about the name-calling, personal attacks, smears, et cetera.

Second, Ms. Shee asserts “we elected Obama for all the right reasons” yet doesn’t give us even one reason.  This is the same as we saw in pro-Obama letters before the election.  Maybe the “reasons” are the “hopes and dreams” Ms. Shee mentioned in the first sentence.
