Insurance industry failed on health care; Ann Stanton; Beaver County Times; December 27, 2009.

This is a least the second letter from Ms. Stanton lobbying for a government-run, taxpayer-funded healthcare monopoly.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“Several others and I met Tuesday with a representative at Congressman Jason Altmire’s Aliquippa office, delivering cards from his constituents regarding their ‘Holiday Wish for Healthcare Reform.’

“My sister, Georgeanne Koehler, created this unique holiday idea for people to write their elected officials about their concern on this important issue.

“Some were real life stories about loved ones who died for lack of medical care and no health insurance, while others expressed problems they currently have with illnesses, little money and no health insurance.

“She received more than 1,100 cards in 12 days and personally delivered them to Washington, D.C., on Dec. 17.

“Our meeting went well, and we all agreed that health-care reform is a very important and urgent issue because people are dying while this is being debated and argued.

“Our elected officials should do their jobs with honesty and integrity, understanding that many families are deeply affected by this crisis.

“The insurance industry has had years to come up with a solution to create affordable, quality health plans for everyone but has declined to do so because of greed.”

[RWC] What do you do when facts, history, and logic don’t support your position?  You demonize the opposition.

“A public option will finally give them a reason to compete and do the right thing.”

[RWC] As discussed in my paper “Healthcare,” the idea a government-run, taxpayer-funded healthcare insurance offering would foster competition couldn’t be further from the truth.
