We must stand as one; Kate Stear; Beaver County Times; April 13, 2006.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“We must come together, unite as one and take a stand for once against the corrupt fuel companies, the corrupt drug companies, our corrupt corporations and corrupt government officials.”

[RWC] You probably won’t be surprised to find Ms. Stear not once provides evidence to support her belief that everyone in business and government is corrupt.

“If it means not gassing up on Sundays, carpooling or giving up those road trips to drive down the cost of fuel, then do so as a whole.”

[RWC] What’s this got to do with alleged corruption?  Regardless of the price of fuel, don’t most of us try to find ways not to waste it?

“If it means finding a way to receive that lower cost on a prescription or product and doing whatever it takes to make these companies poor, then do so as a whole.  If it means taking a vote, protesting against or openly reporting those that have hired illegal immigrants and have brought them into our country, then do so as a whole.”

[RWC] If we “make these [drug] companies poor,” who will develop and produce the drugs so many of us rely on?

“If it means writing letters, signing petitions, voicing your thoughts, campaigning against or changing the law by voting out government officials, then do so as a whole.”

[RWC] Apparently Ms. Stear believes everyone has the same dim view as the world as she.

“But do whatever it takes, America.  Do something.  Get off your derrieres, and unite because unless you take a stand as one against the political and corporate greed that is raping this country, you’ll get what you deserve.”

[RWC] “Political and corporate greed … is raping this country?”  Wow, nothing like extreme language, is there?
