Outrageous prices pure greed; Michelle Swab; Beaver County Times; April 12, 2009.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“I’d like to thank all the greedy, money-hungry people who will ruin my daughter’s 10th birthday.

“I tried to buy tickets to her favorite artist’s concert, which is only a few days after her birthday.  It was going to be a surprise, and, considering the fact she heard all the hype on the radio, she would have thought it was the best gift in the world.

“Someone suggested that I check online.  I did, only to find that people were selling them for $50 or more than the original price.

“I’d like the heartless people selling these tickets at inflated amounts to come and explain to her why she can’t go to the concert.”

[RWC] I clearly don’t know all the details, but it appears Ms. Swab waited too long to purchase the tickets and now needs someone to blame.  The really tragic thing here is that Ms. Swab is teaching her daughter it’s OK to blame your failures on someone else.  Then again, who knows?  Ms. Swab may just be really bummed and this is an isolated incident for her.
