Ann Taylor – 4/17/08

She’s just a woman; Ann Taylor; Beaver County Times; April 17, 2008.

Ms. Taylor wrote at least two previous letters since 2005.  They were “Vote out buddies of Bush” (April 5, 2005) and “How does Bush sleep at night?” (April 5, 2007).

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“I can’t imagine why anyone would want to be president.”

“From more than 300 million people, we now have to choose from an old white man, a younger black man and a middle-aged woman.

“As a senior citizen trying to stay informed, I have lived long enough to have learned to believe nothing I hear and only half of what I see.”

[RWC] I could be wrong, but based on her letters I suspect Ms. Taylor applies these rules only to persons with whom she disagrees.

“Pessimistic, yes, but we have to look back only seven years to know President Bush told the American people what he planned to do to this country, including a warning on Iraq, and he was elected not once, but twice.

“Unfortunately, he kept his promises and he’s still making threats.  We can’t afford another mistake.”

[RWC] You have to love this.  Ms. Taylor is allegedly skeptical, yet says President Bush did what he said he’d do and she doesn’t like it.  What threats?

“I have ruled out John McCain.  He certainly is a patriotic man, but he and I want different things for our country.  We don’t need a McBush.”

[RWC] “McBush?”  How original, or at least it was a zillion mentions ago.

“I also say ‘no’ to Barack Obama.  After all this time, I still don’t know him.  He’s an orator, prophet, politician, preacher, rock star and poet all rolled up into one — and that’s not a good thing.  There’s a big difference between wanting to be president and doing the job.

“So on Tuesday, I’m going to vote for the woman, asking her to make peace, not war, save our sons and daughters, pay the bills, fix the economy, air and food supply, save Medicare, Social Security, our jobs and homes and any other little thing she has time for.

“If Hillary Clinton is as patient and intelligent as I think she is, she’ll still be standing on Nov. 4.  We can then vote for Clinton and tell her to ‘get ’er done.’  After all, she’s just a woman.”

[RWC] What a surprise.  Ms. Taylor used one of the four approved reasons for voting for a Democrat candidate during this primary: “for change,” “for hope,” “because his skin color is black,” and “because she’s a woman.”
