If this be socialism, then give me more; John M. Tomaszewski; Beaver County Times; December 20, 2009.

Since September 2004, this is at least the 49th letter from Mr. Tomaszewski with all but a handful spouting leftist talking points, with most bashing Republicans and/or former President Bush.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“We operate overwhelmingly on a coal and oil economy.

“The drive today is to regulate the emissions of carbon dioxide.  The industries and institutions that use carbon fuels, coal and oil emit C02 [sic].

“This type of environmentalism controlling C02 [sic] is now being labeled socialism, just as the Social Security Act enacted by F.D. Roosevelt was labeled socialism.”

[RWC] “The industries and institutions that use carbon fuels, coal and oil emit C02 [sic]?”  Every single human activity generates CO2, even the “greenest” of so-called “green” activities.  Therefore, to regulate CO2 emissions is to regulate every single human activity.  That’s even further to the left than socialism.  Leftists know voters would never support socialism at the polls, so lefties employ environment and healthcare causes as backdoors to implement socialism incrementally.

As a reminder, it’s CO2, not C02 as in the letter.

Please read my paper entitled “Manmade global warming.”

“[T]he Social Security Act enacted by F.D. Roosevelt was labeled socialism.”  That’s because Socialist Security is socialism, along with Medicare, Medicaid, et cetera.

“Today’s drive for better health insurance is also being labeled socialism.”

[RWC] Mr. Tomaszewski doesn’t really believe it’s a “drive for better health insurance,” does he?  Please read my paper entitled “Healthcare.”

“I favor these types of socialism.”

[RWC] I’d be glad to let Mr. Tomaszewski live under complete socialism if it didn’t mean those of us who believe in effective individual freedom would be forced to do likewise.  The problem is, socialists impose how they want to live on everyone else.
