Trump needs to go before it’s too late; Linda Vetterly (LV); Beaver County Times; June 6, 2017.

The only previous Vetterly letters I reviewed was were “Trump threatens our status throughout the world” and “Relieving real desperation.”

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“Since Donald Trump has been elected, he has managed to alienate almost half of the world.”

[RWC] This rant appears to be “part II” of LV’s 3/23/17 letter.

“North Korea is testing missiles to try and reach the United States.  He has turned so many of our allies against us.  And now he has pulled us out of the Paris Accord on climate change because he doesn’t believe in global warming, even though it has been proven by scientists.”

[RWC] NK has been “testing missiles to try and reach the United States” since at least 2006.  It doesn’t matter who our president is; NK will be NK.

Reaction to President Trump (DT) pulling us out of the Paris pact is curious.  The usual suspects claim it’s a disaster.  When someone expresses concern about a group of governments having control of our economy via consumption, those same usual suspects claim each member sets its own goals and meeting those self-imposed goals is voluntary.  For example, in a comment about a letter-to-the-letter, local lefty leader Carl Davidson (KD) wrote, “First, jskp, its not a ‘pact’.  Every country works toward the common goal as they see fit..  Second, Trump has now let socialist China take the lead, which for a socialist like me is kind of a silver lining, but I I’d actually rather not have.”

If all of this is true, how is the Paris agreement different from what would happen without the pact?  As usual, follow the money.

Article 9.1 reads, “Developed country Parties shall provide financial resources to assist developing country Parties with respect to both mitigation and adaptation in continuation of their existing obligations under the Convention.”  Note, “Developed country Parties” is UN-speak for the U.S.

Article 9.8 reads, “The Financial Mechanism of the Convention, including its operating entities, shall serve as the financial mechanism of this Agreement.”

The “Convention” is “The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change” which went into effect March 21, 1994.

Let’s be honest; the U.S. could generate as much CO2 as we want and the UN wouldn’t care as long as it could keep its hand in our wallet.

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, “[Pittsburgh Mayor Bill] Peduto responded by signing an order that committed Pittsburgh to work with 81 other cities to meet the Paris objectives.  De Blasio signed a similar order.”  I wonder what Pittsburgh taxpayers will think when next year’s budget includes a line item “providing financial resources to assist developing country Parties with respect to both mitigation and adaptation.”

Okay, is the Paris agreement a pact or not?  First, accord and pact are synonyms.  Second, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said, “The Paris Agreement on climate change is, in a very strong sense, a peace PACT with the planet.”  Third, an NPR piece said, “Representatives from 196 nations made a historic PACT on Dec. 12, 2015, in Paris to adopt green energy sources, cut down on climate change emissions and limit the rise of global temperatures — while also cooperating to cope with the impact of unavoidable climate change.”

“global warming … has been proven by scientists?”  Would these be the same scientists who 40+ years ago sounded the manmade-global-cooling alarm then almost overnight switched to manmade global warming?  If doomsayers of the 1970s had been correct, we’d be having this discussion from the middle of an ice age.  Depending on your age, you may recall these folks claimed manmade particulate pollution was reflecting too much of the Sun’s energy back into space, thus reducing the Earth’s temperature.  (Note: To explain why their predictions have not come to pass, today’s MGW believers have resurrected the idea manmade particulate pollution is delaying the warming.)  During the 1970s, publications like Newsweek (The Cooling World; April 28, 1975), Science Digest, The Christian Science Monitor, and Time (The Cooling of America; December 24, 1979) published articles about the impending “ice age.”

Please read my paper Manmade Global Warming

As a rookie engineer at the Texaco Research Center (RIP) during the mid-1970s, I worked and socialized with a fair number of scientists.  They are normal people, neither saints nor sinners.  To assume someone is above reproach just because he’s labeled a “scientist” (or engineer, reporter, and so on) is foolish.

As KD, Red China describes itself as socialist in Article 1 of its constitution: “The People’s Republic of China is a socialist state under the people’s democratic dictatorship led by the working class and based on the alliance of workers and peasants.  The socialist system is the basic system of the People’s Republic of China.  Disruption of the socialist system by any organization or individual is prohibited.”  Isn’t “democratic dictatorship” an oxymoron?  Perhaps something got lost in translation.  Regardless of how Red China refers to itself, it’s run by the Communist Party of China.  Likewise, KD is a communist at heart.  Keep in mind lefty thought is you have to go through capitalism and then socialism to get to communism.  Back in 2014, KD wrote, “Communism is indeed a distant utopia by current standards.  I view it like the North Star, it gives us a sense of direction to stay the course.”

“He lives in his own little Trump world and doesn’t care about anything that helps the average American citizen.

“He is trying to pass his health-care bill that hurts everyone except the extremely rich.  He is a lunatic who thinks he is God.  He got elected even though Hillary Clinton received millions more popular votes.  Is [sic] she was in office, none of this would be happening.”

[RWC] Obamacare doesn’t “hurt everyone except the extremely rich?”

“They are still investigating Trump’s ties to Russia when everyone knows the Russians got him elected.”

[RWC] To date, our security agencies have testified they found no evidence the Russkies tampered with our voting systems.  If you believe former FBI Director James Comey, three times he told President Trump he wasn’t under investigation.

“This is insane.  How much damage are we going to let him do before he gets impeached?  Just because he has money shouldn’t make him above the law.”

[RWC] In case LV doesn’t know it, impeachment requires a criminal act (“Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors”).

“Wake up, America, and get him out of office before the damage is too extreme to be fixable.  Get him out before it’s too late.”

[RWC] Again, the only legal way to “get him out of office” is via conviction for committing a criminal act.
