Trump keeps his promise, but at what cost?; James V. Zedak; Beaver County Times; January 31, 2017.

Mr. Zedak has written at least 52 letters since 2004.  Previous critiques are here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“There can be no question that President Donald Trump is keeping the promises he made during his campaign, but at what hefty price will all Americans pay for some of those promises?

“The executive order putting an immigration ban on certain groups of people because of their religious beliefs and then immediately implementing it, which has caused widespread confusion and protests, may prove to be an expensive decision. Of the seven countries on his hit list, not one of those countries has been responsible for attacks on American citizens in this country, but a country, Saudi Arabia, was the home base for the 11 terrorists who caused 9/11 and the loss of thousands of lives.”

[RWC] JZ wants readers to believe President Trump (DT) placed a travel ban on Muslims entering the U.S.  DT did not.  Read the executive order (EO) and you find JZ’s claim of an “immigration ban on certain groups of people because of their religious beliefs” is false.

According to CNN, “Trump’s order bars citizens from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen from entering the U.S. for the next 90 days.”  There is no religion test.  The seven countries on the EO list are the same seven countries then-President Obama (BHO) targeted with travel restrictions in 2015.  Did JZ complain about BHO’s travel restrictions?

Finally, nine out of the 10 countries with the largest Muslim populations (as of 2010) did not make the list.  If DT’s goal was to stop Muslims from coming to the U.S., he picked the wrong countries.

“Additionally, President Trump has given ISIS the perfect propaganda tool to recruit more soldiers.  Let’s also not forget we have civilians and military stationed in countries on his hit list and he may have created open season on the lives of those Americans.  However, this may help him with one of his campaign promises of creating jobs.  We may need plenty of body bags and caskets and President Trump will demand they be American made.”

[RWC] Finally, if you’re in JZ’s camp, it appears every action we propose/take is claimed to be “the perfect propaganda tool to recruit more soldiers.”

In 2007, JZ wrote, “Yet, Osama bin Laden is alive and well and a hero to the sick minds who flock to his cause.”  Using JZ’s logic, shouldn’t Presidents Bush and Obama have let bin Laden go free?
