Politics over policy: Bush installs operatives in regulatory agencies; Editorial; Pittsburgh Post-Gazette; February 1, 2007.

Rather do a full piece-by-piece critique, I’ll address only one point.

The editorial is completely bogus.  It implies President Bush is doing something no other president does.

Every president appoints people who will implement his policies within the law.  After all, we elect presidents based on how they claim they will run the executive branch.  If presidents had to rely on their predecessors’ appointments and/or career bureaucrats, presidents would have no way to implement their policies.

Given the liberal leaning of the PG, it’s no surprise it would be upset by the appointments of even a fairly liberal Republican like President Bush.
