Below is a detailed critique of the subject piece.
In case you don’t know, the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) is one of the left’s more recent boogeymen. In addition to a previous BCR piece, you can find previous attacks by J.D. Prose (here and here).
There’s not much to write about this except the video is hilarious. The video begins with some PDA guy behind sunglasses holding a sign that says, “ALEC: The Mind Behind Corporate Fascism.” The gentleman doesn’t appear to know fascism is on the same side of the ideological spectrum as he. He also claims to speak for all Chicagoans. Sure. The video goes downhill from there with other people chanting the usual chants (“What does democracy look like …” and so on) and pushing the usual talking points. You may think the video is a caricature of today’s leftists, but sadly I believe it’s real. The video is only three minutes long and worth the time.
Second, unless “progressive” is leftyspeak for “regressive,” “progressive Democrats” is an oxymoron.
