KD wrote, “WHAT WOULD TRUMP HAVE US DO TO THE ‘GOOD SAMARITAN?’ Bust him, try him and send him to the slammer for 20 years. Think that one over when pondering the nature of your Christianity, if you are one, and what a ‘Christian nation’ might do. Or set aside religion, and consider what common decency asks of us.”

According to the subject opinion piece, “Federal prosecutors are pursuing criminal charges against activist Scott Daniel Warren for doing nothing more than giving food, water and shelter to migrants trekking through the desert.”
The problem is, activists like Mr. Warren (SDW) put these potential illegal aliens in more danger, not less. Would-be illegal aliens concerned about having enough food, water, and shelter for their families in the wilderness are given false hope about their chances. To immigrant smugglers (aka “coyotes”) who would take advantage of persons trying to enter the U.S. illegally, these “baiting” activities tell the coyotes where to look.
I want legal immigrants in our country, not illegal aliens, but I don’t want to see either legal immigrants or illegal aliens dead because of an activist’s ideological agenda.
I don’t know about KD’s “good Samaritan,” but the Samaritan in my Bible didn’t lure “A certain man” into danger before caring for the “certain man.”
I’m not a mind reader, so I don’t know for sure what DT or KD would do in a similar situation, though I’m relatively sure DT would care for the “certain man.” A good leftist, however, would need to get clearance from the Directorate of Certain Man Affairs before shooting the “certain man” for allowing himself to be attacked and become a load on the state <g>.
Did you notice Christianity was the only religious belief KD challenged? What about Atheism, Buddhism (Zen), Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, and so on? I’m sure it was an honest oversight.
As I’ve noted previously, KD’s desire for immigrants – legal or not – isn’t exactly altruistic. In a post on his Facebook page, KD wrote, “WHY IMMIGRATION? Among other things, we need them to keep social security functioning. Contrary to some imaginations, nearly all immigrants work and pay into FICA, even with fake SS numbers. Moreover, illegal immigrants are excluded from safety net programs.”
