Below is a review of the subject Facebook post.
KD wrote, “IN TRUMP’S USA, WE NOW PUT GOOD SAMARITANS ON TRIAL, In preparing for the Fourth, we would do well to reflect on our country’s core values. We’ve managed to do it for decades without spotlighting the instruments of death and destruction. But I get the message. It’s a diversion to turn us into a nation of bullies, to hide the fact that we want to jail those who take the idea that all humans have certain inalienable rights, including life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, seriously. Scott Warren understands this, so I’m standing alongside him on the Fourth, and if I lived on the border, I would commit the same ‘crimes’” The story KD linked to was Al Jazeera’s “US activist Scott Warren to be retried in aiding migrants case.”

KD didn’t make it clear if “I’m standing alongside him on the Fourth” was literal or figurative.
In either case, KD doesn’t need to “live on the border … to commit the same ‘crimes.’” KD travels all over the place, so getting to a border state shouldn’t be a problem. Remember, one of KD’s daughters is married to David Sorkin. Mr. Sorkin, general counsel of KKR, is an honest-to-gosh, Wall Street one-percenter. According to Bloomberg Law - Big Law Business, “Take KKR’s secretary and general counsel David Sorkin, who [in 2015] earned a reported $300,000 salary, and $7.76 million in total compensation. His situation highlights the fact that GCs’ compensation is often a rich mix of stock, options, pension benefits and perks, with cash representing only a small component. This contrasts with law firm partners’ cash-heavy compensation.”
Note KD’s choice of news source, Al Jazeera. KD favors “news” sources run by governments unfriendly to the U.S. The list includes RT.com (Formerly Russia Today), TeleSUR (Venezuela plus some other Central and South America governments), several outlets controlled by Red China, and so on.
If you think this is about “our country’s core values,” think again. As I noted in a previous review, KD’s desire for immigrants – legal or not – isn’t exactly altruistic. In a post on his Facebook page, KD wrote, “WHY IMMIGRATION? Among other things, we need them to keep social security functioning. Contrary to some imaginations, nearly all immigrants work and pay into FICA, even with fake SS numbers. Moreover, illegal immigrants are excluded from safety net programs.”
