Salutes & Boots; Editorial; Beaver County Times; May 23, 2005.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject editorial.

“Salute: To the voters who supported the Growing Greener II proposition that was on the ballot on Tuesday.  The referendum received the support of around 60 percent of those who cast ballots.  Their approval means the state will now be allowed to borrow $625 million for environmental protection and land preservation.”

[RWC] So those of us who voted against more government waste get a “boot?”

There are two points to note.  The 60% is statewide.  The figure for Beaver County was 55%.

Second, we need to remember even the Times admitted the proposal did not specify how we would pay for it.  In other words, 60% of Pennsylvanians voted for “a pig in a poke.”
