Paying up; Editorial; Beaver County Times; December 9, 2008.

This editorial is yet another example of the Times tortured “logic.”

Check previous editorials and you find they support taxing those who buy alcoholic drinks in bars and restaurants and those who rent cars to subsidize those who ride government-run bus systems.  Other editorials lobbied for putting a toll on I-80 for the same purpose.  If you opposed the I-80 tolls, Times editorials labeled you as “Leeches” and “Welfare queens.”

When it comes to making Turnpike customers subsidize government-run bus systems, for some reason that’s objectionable to the Times.  This editorial asserts, “lawmakers opted for a smoke-and-mirrors move that stuck the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and those who drive the highway with the bill.”

I believe all of these actions would have “stuck” the wrong people “with the bill” for government-run bus systems, but why is it OK to stick the first three groups of people with the bill but not Turnpike customers?  This kind of inconsistency is enough to make your head explode.
