U.S. has sacrificed enough; Marie C. Barkovic; Beaver County Times; April 22, 2008.

This is Ms. Barkovic’s second letter on this topic in nine days.  Previous letters included a list of talking points and support for SCHIP.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“I do not agree with Wednesday’s editorial “Bush should rally America to support troops.”

“While I do think we should support our troops 100 percent, the editorial put the full responsibility of the Iraq war on America and its military.”

[RWC] Did Ms. Barkovic and I read the same editorial?

“Why is an immediate withdrawal impossible?  After five years of training, why aren’t Iraq soldiers made to stand up so American soldiers can stand down? Why can’t Iraq rebuild its own country?  Why is Iraq permitted to bank $100 billion in oil profits while bankrupting America?”

[RWC] Iraqi soldiers are taking on more and more of the fighting and have been for quite some time.

“The president must tell Iraq to start taking financial responsibility for the war effort.”

[RWC] Iraq has been, but can’t do everything by itself.

“With more than 4,000 dead, 30,000 wounded and maimed and billions in tax dollars spent, America has sacrificed enough.”

[RWC] OK, we pull out immediately.  What does Ms. Barkovic believe will happen?
