Rothfus is wrong about needing weapons; Katheryn M. Bliton (KMB); Beaver County Times; February 25, 2018.

Previous Bliton letters I reviewed were “Let your federal officials know you are concerned” and “Losing touch with reality.”

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“U.S. Rep. Keith Rothfus is incorrect.  We, the people, do not need guns.”

[RWC] “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” - Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Please read my review of the Second Amendment.  It addresses most of KMB’s issues.

“Sportsmen need appropriate weapons.  No one needs an [sic] semiautomatic assault rifle which is used only to kill and/or maim people.  Assault rifles should have no place in a civilized society.”

[RWC] I don’t know if KMB understands the purpose of Amendment II.

“What we the people do need is a society where children can go to school without feeling threatened, where people can attend religious services without feeling threatened, where everyone can go to theaters, arenas, parks and shopping without feeling threatened and fearing for the loss of their lives or that of their loved ones.

“I salute the children of today who are challenging the institutions which make the laws that govern the use of armaments and ammunition.  We should all support their efforts in any way that we can and let the legislators know that we do support them and their mission to make their lives and our lives free from fear in our own country from our own people.  Please join me in making your voice heard.”

[RWC] What about bombs, cars/trucks, fertilizer, diesel fuel, and so on?
