Use free speech in a dignified way; Becky Castelli; Beaver County Times; April 2, 2010.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“I am a conservative who is unsure about what health care reform will mean for my family and for our country.”

[RWC] After more than a year of debate and the intense coverage of the past several months?

Please read my paper entitled “Healthcare.”

“I believe it is too involved to be understood at this point, until such times as we see in black and white just how it will affect each of us individually.

“In addition, I am strongly anti-abortion.

“All this being said, I am heartsick at the threats and vandalism that some of the anti-health care bill people are using against those who voted for the bill, and their families.  It is a shame they cannot use their right to free speech in a dignified manner.

“I pray that they will desist in what they are doing and God will give our Republican Party (and any others against the measure) wisdom in their proposals to make changes.”

[RWC] Assuming Ms. Castelli really is “a conservative,” she probably means well, but I suspect she’s fallen victim to mainstream media “reporting.”  Examples in the Times are here, here, and here.  I said “assuming Ms. Castelli really is ‘a conservative’” because the Times has a number of lefty letter-writers who pose as disgruntled Republicans and/or conservatives.
