Taliban less dangerous than Supreme Court; Lonzie Cox, Jr.; Beaver County Times; June 11, 2014.  Though my friends have fun at my expense by referring to him as my “Cousin Lonzie,” I am not related to Mr. Cox.

Most of Mr. Cox’s at least 91 letters since 2004 are tinged with race, and all take leftist positions.  The most recent previous Cox letter I critiqued was “Stay away from another Cold War.”  You can find more Cox letters in the archives (2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004).

When it comes to race issues, Mr. Cox is pretty tolerant if you share his leftist ideology.  For example, Mr. Cox had no problem with the late-Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV), a former KKK officer, but referred to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas as an “Uncle Tom.”

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“It’s truly obvious to me that the Republican Party, in its overreactions to anything Obama does, has come unglued.  They’ve lost the ability to rationalize and see some good now and then in any of President Obama’s policies.”

[RWC] Mr. Cox considers the Taliban “less of a danger to the American people” than “the Roberts Supreme Court,” and he thinks “the Republican Party … has come unglued?”  Wow!

“The right-wing noise over the repatriation of POW Sgt. Bowe Berghdall [sic] was predictable.  After a spring filled with goofballs like Cliven Bundy, Donald Sterling, Sean Hannity and Fox News, I am still more concerned about the Republican majority on the Supreme Court than I am about the Taliban in Afghanistan or anywhere else.”

[RWC] Mr. Cox ignores the fact questioning the wisdom of the Bergdahl prisoner swap has been bipartisan.  Further, much of the “noise” is coming from Mr. Bergdahl’s fellow soldiers and commanders.

“Most Americans wouldn’t know a Taliban if he was standing on their foot.  The five released Taliban are in no way as dangerous as John Roberts, Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, Anthony Kennedy and Samuel Alito.  These judges are not only dangerous to citizens seeking equal treatment in the U.S., but they are extremely dangerous to all of us, even if some of us don’t know it.”

[RWC] “John Roberts, Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, Anthony Kennedy and Samuel Alito … are … dangerous to citizens seeking equal treatment in the U.S.?”  In what way?

“If I had to choose the least dangerous between the Roberts Supreme Court and the Taliban, I would say the Taliban pose less of a danger to the American people, now and in the future.”

[RWC] How soon Mr. Cox forgets.  Had it not been for Chief Justice Roberts’ tortured opinion, Obamacare would have been rightly judged unconstitutional.
