Lonzie Cox, Jr. – 2/24/16

President endures ongoing hatred from his critics; Lonzie Cox, Jr.; Beaver County Times; February 24, 2016.  Though my friends have fun at my expense by referring to him as my “Cousin Lonzie,” I am not related to Mr. Cox.

Most of Mr. Cox’s at least 100 letters since 2004 are tinged with race, and all take leftist positions.  The most recent previous Cox letter I critiqued was “State Supreme Court needs Woodruff.”  You can find more Cox letters in the archives (2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004).

When it comes to race issues, Mr. Cox is pretty tolerant if you share his leftist ideology.  For example, Mr. Cox had no problem with the late-Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV), a former KKK officer, but referred to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas as an “Uncle Tom.”

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“The kids who grew up in the ‘50s and early ‘60s were probably similar to today’s kids in that their socialization took place both directly and indirectly.  The family, school, church and peer group all contributed.  As kids we learned about being an American, pledging allegiance every morning, and that our nation’s enemies were our enemies, too.

“As children we never heard the president of the United States attacked the way today’s Republican Party slanders President Obama.  Private citizens follow the rabid right-wing media in expressing personal and ethnic hatred for the President Obama in ways that are a national disgrace for the rest of the world to see.”

[RWC] Wow!  Anyone familiar with Mr. Cox’s letter-writing body of work will recall he endlessly bashed President George W. Bush.  As I noted about seven years ago, Mr. Cox has Bush Derangement Syndrome (BDS)So does Jewel Robertson.

In truth, Mr. Cox doesn’t really care about “personal and ethnic hatred.”  As noted above, Mr. Cox referred to Justice Clarence Thomas as an “Uncle Tom.”  Where was Mr. Cox when Harry Belafonte referred to then-Secretary of State Colin Powell as a “house nigger?”  Where was Mr. Cox when a black “journalist” wrote about then-National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, “That stupid bitch is Aunt Jemima?”  When you wander off Mr. Cox’s plantation, he will attack you regardless of your skin color.

“But children pay attention, too.  Do the children really believe that President Obama is a foreigner, a non-Christian, a bad person, or that he doesn’t care about his fellow citizens?  A recent hysterical rant by foreign-born Republican candidate Ted Cruz sheds some light.  In the middle of a mindless tirade about how bad things are in the world, Cruz screamed out that ‘the world is on fire.’”

[RWC] Mr. Cox either didn’t watch the video of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) or is lying.  As you can plainly see in the video, nowhere in the speech was there a “hysterical rant,” “a mindless tirade,” or “scream[ing] out.”  When he said “the whole world’s on fire,” Mr. Cruz didn’t “scream;” it was in the same speech-giving voice as the remainder of the speech.

Both the video and transcript of the March 16, 2015, (recent?) speech are here.  The relevant portion of the speech is within the first minute of the video.

As for “the world is on fire,” below you’ll see the Sanders campaign has an entire ad dominated by flames and concludes with what appears to be a nuclear bomb detonation.

“At that point, a little child in the audience burst into tears at the thought of her little world being on fire and had to be reassured by her parent that the world had not really been set on fire by Mr. Obama’s policies.  Barack Hussein Obama will soon be an ex-president.  Teaching our children to be mean, nasty and disrespectful to his presidency will last forever.”

[RWC] By now you probably guessed “a little child in the audience [DID NOT] burst into tears.”  Instead, the video shows a little girl sitting on her mom’s lap asking, “World is on fire?”  Mr. Cruz replied, “The world is on fire?  Yes, your world is on fire.  But you know what; your mommy is here and everyone is here to make sure that the world you grow up in is even better.”

Here’s the story according to the little girl’s mother during an interview on WRKO-AM in Boston.

I wonder what Mr. Cox thinks/thought of the “Daisy” ad used in LBJ’s 1964 campaign against Sen. Barry Goldwater (R-AZ).  Run only once, it shows a little girl counting the petals on a daisy.  Toward the end, as the camera moves closer to the girl, she looks up just after a countdown begins.  When the countdown reaches zero, you see a nuclear bomb detonation in the little girl’s eyes.  LBJ was trying to convince voters that electing Mr. Goldwater would result in nuclear war.

Better yet, what does Mr. Cox think of the Sanders ad “Feel the Bern?”  Fast-forward to 2016.  Using Mr. Cox’s words, “Feel the Bern” appears to be “a mindless tirade about how bad things are in the world.”  Flames dominate “Feel the Bern” and, at one point, you see Mr. Sanders in the foreground with flames in the background apparently consuming everything.  The message appears to be “the world is on fire,” just as Mr. Cruz said.

At the end of “Feel the Bern,” just after the “Bernie 2016” campaign logo appears, in the background is what appears to be a nuclear bomb detonation.

Is someone in the Sanders campaign trying to tell us something?  Are we paying attention?

“Teaching our children to be mean, nasty and disrespectful to his presidency will last forever?”  What does Mr. Cox think our children will learn from his non-stop “mean, nasty and disrespectful” letters about Mr. Bush?  What will they learn from the lying in this letter?
