Listen to the generals; Jane V. Delanko; Beaver County Times; April 30, 2006.

This is at least the third letter from Ms. Delanko on this subject.  The previous letters were entitled “Bring our troops home” and “Bring the troops home.”

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“I totally agree that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld should retire.

“Our generals have spoken and have been in the midst of the war in Iraq.  He has bungled what our strategies were going to be and how they would operate in Iraq.  He is destroying our military.  He has ignored our military policies.”

[RWC] “Our generals have spoken?”  What about the other thousands of retired generals and admirals?  What about the retired generals who support Sec. Rumsfeld?

“They say he is very arrogant and makes up his mind on what he wants to do instead of following on what should be done.  He must resign.

“Although President Bush will not back down and get rid of him because they both got us in this never-ending war, for his own self respect he should leave.  We need new tactics because our military cannot carry out its missions with him as a leader.

[RWC] We’re to believe Ms. Delanko cares about Sec. Rumsfeld’s self-respect?  Besides, who with any self-respect would quit because several retired employees told him to?

“Last but not least, you need to call your representatives about an open debate and call for a signed petition and vote on the war in Iraq calling for all alternatives to the Bush war in Iraq.  We must change our course.”

[RWC] As we know from her previous letters, Ms. Delanko’s change of course is to quit.
