Trump shows himself to be ultimate “snowflake”; Thomas M. Finch; Beaver County Times; June 7, 2017.

The BCT has published at least 48 letters from Mr. Finch (TMF) since December 2004.  At least 31 of these letters were anti-Bush and/or anti-Republican and they never disappoint.  Here is one example.  You can find the remaining Finch letters I critiqued in the critique archives.  As usual, this letter is little more than a string of leftist talking points.  I wish he could get a regular column in the BCT.  I also wish he could get at least five minutes per day on a local radio and/or TV station.  The most recent letter I reviewed was “Recent letters tend to overlook the facts”

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“I tried my best to see how ‘political correctness’ correlated to men dying of prostate cancer, but Paul Dici’s rambling letter failed to make any valid points.

“He took his usual potshots at President Obama and ‘snowflakes,’ but that doesn’t mean much.  An ‘apology tour?’  How great did President Trump’s recent foreign trip make America look?  He’s an embarrassing clown, and he proved it to the entire world.  Dici’s letter also demonstrated that he doesn’t understand the various other ways AIDS can be contracted, but we won’t let the facts get in the way of a good rant.”

[RWC] Regarding “President Trump’s recent foreign trip,” shortly after he left, a group of Muslim countries cut ties with Qatar because of alleged financial support for violent Islamist groups.

Mr. Dici (PD) wrote, “AIDS is not like, for instance, prostate cancer, because a specific act must be committed before you contract AIDS.”

PD is correct; a guy doesn’t “catch” prostate cancer.  According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), “There is no sure way to prevent prostate cancer.”

On the other hand, the “specific acts” by which a person can contract AIDS are well known.  This means the transmission of AIDS can be prevented.

“As is standard procedure for ‘Trumpers,’ anyone who doesn’t agree with their own narrow-minded delusional view of society is subject to the vocabulary of vilification by earning the derisive term ‘snowflake.’  This refers to someone who is weak, easily offended, and fragile -- and in need of ‘special treatment.’  It’s used as an ad hominem attack; the taunt of a schoolyard bully, by way of Ayn Rand.  ‘You’re a wuss, so your argument is invalid...’

“It is ironic that by it’s [sic] very definition, Trump is the ultimate ‘snowflake’ on the planet.  Find anyone who is more fragile, easily offended and in need of ‘special treatment.’”

[RWC] If you’re familiar with TMF’s letter-writing body-of-work, you’ll note he described himself in the previous two paragraphs.

“Instead of lamenting about what happens when future generations are ‘running the country,’ Dici should be praying for God’s help that Trump and his one-party corporate dictatorship doesn’t completely wreck what’s left of the common good, while catering to the richest 1 percent and his own family’s personal fortunes.”

[RWC] Blah, blah, blah.
