We need to change anthem’s last stanza; Stephen F. Kislock, III; Beaver County Times; January 19, 2010.

Most of Mr. Kislock’s 50+ letters over the last five years have been Republican-bashing exercises, though he sometimes goes after Democrats for his pet causes.  Sometime during 2009 Mr. Kislock became an in-house commentator for Beaver County Blue.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“‘And the Star-Spangled Banner in triumph shall wave o’er the land of the free and home of the brave.’

“The people of the United States have shown in a recent McClatchy-Ipsos poll that 51 percent of them agree ‘it is necessary to give up some liberties in order to make the country safe from terrorism.’

“The words in the final stanza of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ that were quoted above must be changed to reflect the new America: ‘And the Star-Spangled Banner in silence shall waver o’er the land of the pathetic fearful and home of the petrified.’”

[RWC] I get a kick out of letters like this from lefties.  Leftism is all about sacrificing effective individual freedom in favor of state power.  My critique of the editorial “The word” also applies here.
