Torch of freedom has been put down; Stephen F. Kislock, III; Beaver County Times; October 3, 2010.

Most of Mr. Kislock’s 56+ letters over the last six years have been Republican-bashing exercises, though he sometimes goes after Democrats for his pet causes.  Sometime during 2009 Mr. Kislock became an in-house commentator for Beaver County Reds.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“What a sad country America has become.  ‘Fear and hatred’ is the mantra of this, the least generation in the history of this once great country.”

[RWC] Mr. Kislock complaining about “Fear and hatred” is a hoot.  Has Mr. Kislock read his own letters?

“Fear” is a favorite topic of Mr. Kislock, including at least eight letters since 2005 (six since April 2009).  Mr. Kislock’s most recent previous letter was entitled “America pledges its allegiance to fear” (8/5/10).

“From the state of New York, this headline: ‘Leaders of Sidney, tiny upstate town, demand Muslims dig up bodies at cemetery on land they own.’

“In 2002, the Sufis (Muslims) bought the 50-acre sheep farm, and later set aside 650 square feet to be used as a cemetery.  This was OK with the citizens and code enforcement officer.”

[RWC] You probably won’t be surprised to know this is the first letter from Mr. Kislock concerning private property rights.  Even when the Supreme Court ruled (Kelo v. City of New London) eminent domain can be used to take one person’s property and give it to another person, Mr. Kislock didn’t complain.  During a period when the Times published at least 55 editorials supporting the ban of smoking on private property, Mr. Kislock didn’t complain.

“Today, the officials of this place want the dead Muslims to be dug up and moved.”

[RWC] Two bodies are buried in this cemetery, both since November 2009.

“Lady Liberty has put down her torch of freedom and now raises an M-16, on full automatic.”

[RWC] Mr. Kislock didn’t complain when the DOJ dropped charges (after the DOJ won the case) against New Black Panther Party members for voter intimidation during the 2008 election.  These NBPP members were caught on video at a Philadelphia polling place wearing military-style clothing with one wielding a billy club/nightstick to intimidate voters.

“Who does America hate and fear?  That is up to our yellow journalism, and when it spins the wheel, who knows who it will stop?”

[RWC] Just as with “hate and fear,” Mr. Kislock has chutzpah complaining about “yellow journalism.”

“But be sure they will be vilified and the Americans of today will buy it lock, stock and barrel.

“Who can American [sic] look to for leadership, out of this morass?

“The loyal opposition?  The Democrats are scared to lead, and for this America is sadly losing its way.”

[RWC] “Democrats” are “[t]he loyal opposition?”  “Loyal opposition” refers to the party/parties out of power.  The last I checked, Democrats hold the majority in both houses of Congress and the President is a Democrat.

“The Democrats have surrendered to the party of ‘no.’”

[RWC] How did we get to “Democrats have surrendered” from a dust-up about a cemetery?

Anyway, Democrats passed so-called “jobs bills,” Obamacare, cap-and-tax (in the House), took over the student loan industry, et cetera.  After all this, asserting “Democrats have surrendered” shows how far left Mr. Kislock is.
