Ferguson protests show how far we have fallen; Stephen F. “The Onion” Kislock, III; Beaver County Times; August 20, 2014.

Most of Mr. Kislock’s 73+ letters over the last nine years have been Republican-bashing exercises, though he sometimes goes after Democrats for his pet causes.  Sometime during 2009 Mr. Kislock became an in-house commentator for Beaver County Reds, though it’s been some time since he’s written there.  Please follow this link to learn more about Beaver County Reds.  You may also remember Mr. Kislock appears to believe “The Onion” is a real news source.  Mr. Kislock went on hiatus between June 2013 and July 2014.  The last Kislock letter was entitled “Local congressional leaders fail women.”

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“The Ferguson, Mo., protests and the police response are a bloody stain on the soul of America.”

[RWC] It’s popular to dump on the police response, but it’s not the police looting, throwing bricks/rocks, destroying property, throwing Molotov cocktails, shooting at police helicopters, and so on.  The guy in charge of the police response beginning 8/14 was State Police Captain Ron Johnson.  According to The Atlantic, “Ron Johnson, is an African American State Highway Patrol captain who grew up in the area and still lives nearby.  Johnson marched with, spoke with, and hugged protesters.  The few police who showed up at Thursday night’s demonstration wore normal uniforms.  They left their gas masks at home.”  That “worked” Thursday night, but on Friday (8/15) night the protesters let loose again.

“As with any Third World country, America’s response to any protest is the protesters blood.”

[RWC] What “protesters blood?”  The response has been to arrest violent protesters and lob in teargas canisters when non-peaceful protesters refuse to disperse.

“Amnesty International is in Ferguson to check on the police violence.  This is a first in the United States and shows how far we have fallen.”

[RWC] What “police violence?”  AI was founded in 1961, so where was it during the Democrat-led police persecution of blacks and poor whites in the 1960s?

Carl Davidson (KD) wrote (8/20/14 @ 12:05pm), “This is what happens when you send your local police to Israel for training rather than, say, London.  The war on drugs has both criminalized a generation of you, the reward from it have also militarized our police.  We borrow fascistic fantasies from too many movies, and lose sight of our common humanity.”

[RWC] Here’s what KD considers “send[ing] your local police to Israel for training.”  In 2011, St. Louis County Police Chief Timothy Fitch spent one week in Israel “to learn how Israel’s police, intelligence and security forces prevent terror attacks.”  Mr. Fitch retired on January 31, 2014.  Other than most Londoners more closely resemble him than do most Israelis, why would KD prefer training in London?
