Assault rifles are an assault on what matters; Stephen F. “The Onion” Kislock, III (SFK); Beaver County Times; March 14, 2018.

Most of SFK’s 90+ letters over the last 14 years have been Republican-bashing exercises, though he sometimes goes after Democrats for his pet causes.  Sometime during 2009 Mr. Kislock became an in-house commentator for Beaver County Reds, though it’s been some time since he’s written there.  Please follow this link to learn more about Beaver County Reds.  You may also remember SFK appears to believe “The Onion” is a real news source.  SFK went on hiatus between June 2013 and July 2014.  The last SFK letter I reviewed is here.

Below is a review of the subject letter.

“Paraphrasing Thomas Jefferson, in today’s America, ‘We hold these Truths to be self-evident: Guns kill.’”

[RWC] “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” - Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

It appears SFK doesn’t know the definition of “paraphrase.”

“Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are taken by the squeeze of the trigger.”

[RWC] It’s also true “Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are [defended] by the squeeze of the trigger.”

“Assault rifles are an assault on all that matters -- life.”

[RWC] Note SFK didn’t provide his definition of “assault rifle.”  I wonder if SFK realizes muskets were the “assault rifles” of their day.
