Republicans take care of themselves; Jerry Miskulin; Beaver County Times; February 20, 2009.

I encourage you to review Mr. Miskulin’s body of work in the archives.  Mr. Miskulin has written at least 20 letters since 2004 (I didn’t critique all of them.).  Most (all?) are illogical (not just wrong) and full of falsehoods.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“We must ask why the best workforce and, on the whole, most morally sound people in the world are having the ground constantly taken out from under them.”

[RWC] This letter is of the “Democrats/Republicans suck” genre.

“I believe Republicans are just for Republicans and not for the country.  From Ronald Reagan to George W. Bush, they have put up a moral facade.  But in reality, all that interests them is the accumulation of money.  (At Geneva College, I was taught it was not money but the love of money that was the problem.)”

[RWC] Geneva taught Mr. Miskulin “the problem” with Republicans “was not money but the love of money?”  What course was that?

“Republicans would rather have the country fail than have Democrats bring prosperity to it.

“Republicans love Bush because he helped them so much.  However, look at what shape the country is in.”

[RWC] When Mr. Miskulin went to Geneva, I wonder if he was taught to provide examples when making accusations.

“As I look at the country’s problems, the deficit, the trade imbalance — these are related — the drug problem and health care leap out.  If President Barack Obama could also reform Social Security in a fair manner before Republicans do it, I’d be relieved.”

[RWC] Mr. Miskulin claims concern for “the deficit,” yet he supports a President who just added over $1 trillion to our debt?  What am I missing?

“These issues, which have concerned the country since 1980, have largely festered under Republican rule.  To let Republicans try to fix them now would be cruel.”

[RWC] At the federal level, we’ve had “Republican rule” (President and majority in Congress) for less than four and a half years (early 2001 and 2003-2006) since 1980.  We have “Democrat rule” for two years (1993-1995).  The remainder of the time it was a mix.

Did you note how Mr. Miskulin’s problems have only “concerned the country since 1980?”  Since Mr. Miskulin graduated from high school in 1975, I know he’s familiar with the Carter administration.
