Limbaugh should stop blowing smoke; Edward Tincani; Beaver County Times; March 11, 2009.

Previous letters from Mr. Tincani were entitled “Nation pays price for Bush’s big ego” and “Trade agreements are too one-sided.”

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“I listened to Rush Limbaugh’s speech about President Barack Obama’s attempt to destroy capitalism.  He was throwing up a smokescreen to hide what really went wrong and why.”

[RWC] Lefties like Mr. Tincani clearly view Rush Limbaugh as a threat.  This is the third letter from a local lefty about Mr. Limbaugh within the last week.

Though Mr. Tincani wasn’t specific, I’m guessing he’s referring to Mr. Limbaugh’s CPAC Convention speech.  I have to give credit to Mr. Tincani if he indeed did listen to Mr. Limbaugh’s speech.  I’d have a hard time listening to someone I liked for 90 minutes, let alone someone with whom I disagreed profoundly.  If Mr. Tincani did listen to Mr. Limbaugh’s speech, he knows it covered far more than “President Barack Obama’s attempt to destroy capitalism.”  Of course, noting that fact would be counterproductive for Mr. Tincani.

“We all know our economy didn’t just collapse; it was being destroyed over the past eight years under the Bush administration.

“The people Bush chose as watchdogs over banking and securities failed miserable, allowing banks and investment firms to lie about their solvency and falsify documents to deceive investors.”

[RWC] I’m sure Mr. Tincani and his fellow travelers would like us to believe this story, but please read my critique of “Let us have some of the $700 trillion” for a more detailed explanation.

“Obama had nothing to do with our economic collapse.”

[RWC] Yes and no.  Mr. Obama supported and still supports the policies that led to the mess.

“Instead of blowing smoke, Limbaugh should back our president in his efforts to restore public confidence not just in capitalism but our Justice Department and democracy itself.”

[RWC] As Mr. Tincani supported then-President Bush?

“I believe Obama should press the Justice Department to hold accountable and prosecute the people responsible.  They should not be allowed to walk away unscathed after swindling their investors out of billions of dollars.”

[RWC] I wonder when Mr. Tincani will figure out why congressional Democrats and President Obama haven’t been pushing this.  Hint: They know the truth.

“If Limbaugh truly wants to restore credibility in capitalism, he should:

“First, place the blame for the collapse of our economy where it belongs.”

[RWC] He has, more times than I can count.

“Second, press our president to insist that the people responsible be brought to justice.”

[RWC] He has, more times than I can count.

“Third, support our president in his efforts to restore our economy.”

[RWC] Mr. Tincani wants Mr. Limbaugh to support policies he believes will damage our economy further.

“Fourth, stop blowing smoke.”

[RWC] Perhaps Mr. Tincani should take his own advice.
