Alex Yawor – 11/13/08

Put blame for loss where it belongs; Alex Yawor; Beaver County Times; November 13, 2008.

Mr. Yawor’s previous letters attempted to bash President Bush regarding Iraq and Iran, and VP Cheney regarding his hunting accident.  In a July 2006 letter, Mr. Yawor implied if you support our action in Iraq, you are “eager to send our young to die in Iraq.”  Much of Mr. Yawor’s last letter tried to lift up Jimmy Carter, as did a previous letter.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“I resent the writer of Thursday’s letter to the editor ‘Democratic voters did nation injustice’ calling me ignorant because I am a Democrat.

“He wrote that ignorant Democrats got Barack Obama elected president because of his lies.  Is the writer trying to tell this ignorant Democrat that Republicans don’t lie? Sorry, I forgot that Republicans are pure-of-heart, we-can-do-no-wrong people.”

[RWC] Hmm, Mr. Yawor didn’t deny Mr. Obama lied.

“I forgot two wars were started by Democrats.  Forgot thousands of our young have died and many thousands have been maimed because of these wars.  Forgot because of the Democrats we are more than $9 trillion in debt.  Forgot we were once the envy of the world, but now the whole world hates us because of the Democrats.  Forgot this all happened because the Democrats have been in power the last seven years.”

[RWC] I guess this means Mr. Yawor also deplores the roles of FDR, Harry Truman, and JFK getting us into World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.  Regarding Afghanistan, I thought Democrats were all for that war.  At least that’s what they’ve been telling us.

“We were once the envy of the world?”  The last I checked, we’re still the ones the rest of the world goes to for help and we still have more immigrants than we can handle.

As far as “the whole world hates us,” who cares even if it were true?  What is it with lefties that they need to feel loved by the rest of the world?

“Wait a minute.  I have this all wrong.  The pure-of-heart Republicans have been in power the last seven years.  My fellow Democrats, please except my apologies.”

[RWC] Sorry, but Republicans have not “been in power the last seven years.”  Democrats were the majority party and/or shared power in the Senate from 2001 to 2003, and Democrats were the majority party in both house of Congress for the past two years.

“John McCain lost because of walking in the shadow of Bush, because of whom he picked for vice president, because he got the blessings of Cheney, because he said we would stay in Iraq for 100 years if we have to and because of the things I was blaming the ignorant Democrats of doing.”

[RWC] This paragraph is just a bunch of bogus talking points.

John McCain lost because he was the candidate of the “moderate” wing of the GOP and because elected Republicans didn’t govern according to conservative principles.  Instead, too many Republicans governed as “Democrats lite” in a silly attempt to attract so-called “independents,” “moderates,” et cetera.  Why should a lefty vote for a faux Democrat when he can vote for the real thing?

“There also must be a large number of ignorant Republicans.  Correct me if I am wrong, but didn’t a number of Republican states go for Obama?”

[RWC] If they were “Republican states,” would they have voted for Mr. Obama?

“God help people who will hang someone before giving them a fair trial.”

[RWC] Given Mr. Yawor’s record of nonstop Bush bashing, this sentence makes it clear Mr. Yawor has chutzpah.
