Put away politics; James V. Zedak ; Beaver County Times; November 29, 2012.

Mr. Zedak has written at least 33 letters since 2004.  I critiqued seven of those letters (here, here, here, here, here, here, and here); this is the first critique since 2008.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“As we head toward what is described as a fiscal cliff, all of us have to wonder if the romper room crew known as our Congress can get their acts together, work in a bi-partisan effort and establish a sensible and reasonable solution.

“If the president and Congress can’t get their acts together, we may well see a recession that will make the one we are allegedly coming out of a minor bump in the road.

“Of course our politicians don’t have much to worry about except the next election.  They will be comfortable with their excellent salaries, perks and benefits, and the voters be damned due to the stubborn factions that make up our Congress.

“Let’s put away the politics, recognize that President Obama has been re-elected, and whether anyone likes it or not, respect for the office of the president should prevail.”

[RWC] “[R]espect for the office of the president should prevail” but it’s OK to refer to Congress as “the romper room crew?”

As a reminder, the last two years the Democrat-majority Senate voted down President Obama’s budget proposals 99-0 and 97-0.  Yes, that means Mr. Obama’s proposals were so bad not even one Democrat senator voted for them.
