Op-Ed: Decisions Are Made By Those Who Show Up on Election Day; State Rep. Jesse White (D-46); Beaver Countian; October 31, 2012.

Mr. White lost in Beaver County in both 2006 and 2010.  On Facebook, Mr. White describes his “Political Views” as “Moderate.”  Sure.  “Moderate,” “centrist,” etc. are leftyspeak for “liberal,” “progressive,” and other leftisms.  On his campaign website, Mr. White describes his “style” as “fiery and aggressive.”  According to his biography on his official website, Mr. White “operates his own law practice, White & Associates.”  Despite the name, White & Associates appears to be a “one-man band.”  Mr. White’s biography also indicates “He worked … in the legal department for the United Steelworkers of America in Pittsburgh.”  Mr. White was convicted of defamation and invasion of privacy in April 2011.

Previous White pieces I critiqued are here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here.

Mr. White sometimes spams his opinion so you may find his pieces on his campaign website, the Beaver Countian, and/or Canon-MacMillan Patch.

This will be a pretty short critique.

Mr. White wrote, “In regards to the national races, I’m going to give a piece of advice I rarely offer when it comes to elections. This year, if you are really and truly undecided, consider becoming a One-Issue Voter. It’s simple; pick the one single issue you believe will have the biggest impact on your life, like Social Security, Medicare, education, or the environment, and use objective sources to research the candidates’ positions on that issue. Senior citizens can get information from groups like AARP at http://vote.aarp.org/, and there are great non-partisan sites out there like VoteSmart.org where you can research candidates and even take an interactive quiz (http://votesmart.org/voteeasy/) to see which candidates fit your beliefs.”

It takes only a tiny bit of checking to learn AARP and VoteSmart.org are not the “objective sources” Mr. White claims them to be.

AARP, whose business is to sell insurance to its members, consistently supports leftist policies/programs.  AARP supported Obamacare before (including “a national advertising blitz for ObamaCare”) and after its passage.  So far for 2011 & 2012, AARP spent nearly $20 million on lobbying at the federal level, and nearly $218 million since 1998.  Since 1990, campaign contributions from AARP employees overwhelmingly went to Democrats.

As for Project Vote Smart (PVS), nearly all PVS advisors for 2011-2012 are college faculty members and the overwhelming majority of college faculty members refer to themselves as liberal.
