“Trumpcare” means lousy coverage, higher premiums; Thomas M. Finch; Beaver County Times; July 12, 2017.

The BCT has published at least 50 letters from Mr. Finch (TMF) since December 2004.  At least 31 of these letters were anti-Bush and/or anti-Republican and they never disappoint.  Here is one example.  You can find the remaining Finch letters I critiqued in the critique archives.  As usual, this letter is little more than a string of leftist talking points.  I wish he could get a regular column in the BCT.  I also wish he could get at least five minutes per day on a local radio and/or TV station.  The most recent letter I reviewed was “Trump doesn’t deserve to be admired, supported.”

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“Three cheers for Glenn Collin Sr.’s letter of July 6.  I expect him to be criticized by Donald Trump’s loyal, misguided, followers for daring to call their hero a lair [sic].”

[RWC] Just to be clear, I support no legislation that does not repeal Obamacare lock, stock, and barrel.  No exceptions.  I support no legislation that replaces Obamacare.

Please read my paper “Healthcare.”

“Telling ‘untruths’ about any and every subject is what Trump does best.  No matter how much they claim it to be ‘fake news,’ or that the mainstream media is just ‘picking on him,’ no one can deny that the man is a bald-faced liar.  More criticism of Hillary Clinton does not negate that as an indisputable fact.  All of his grand promises of ‘better and cheaper’ health care was just more of his hot air.

[RWC] Of course “All of [Donald Trump’s] grand promises of ‘better and cheaper’ health care was just more of his hot air,” just like it was for supporters of Hillarycare, Obamacare, and so on.

Remember when Barack Obama (BHO) claimed that with Obamacare our premiums would drop, we could keep our existing policies, and we could keep our doctors?  Where was TMF then?

Remember BHO’s claim “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it?”  The lie was so bad even the left-leaning PolitiFact had to declare it 2013’s “Lie of the Year.”  When BHO realized he would be caught, he later claimed, “What we said was, you can keep (your plan) if it hasn’t changed since the law passed.”  PolitiFact rated that as a “Pants on Fire!” lie.

“What Trumpers fail to grasp is the GOP doesn’t care about your health care -- they never did.  Their contrived behind-closed-doors Dumpster-fire of a health-care plan has two main goals -- repeal Obamacare, and give tax cuts to the rich.”

[RWC] This is akin to the ceaseless lefty claim that Republicans don’t care about clean air and water.

“Then they throw around phrases like ‘access,’ ‘freedom’ and ‘turn it over to the states.’  Guess what?  The state don’t [sic] have any money either.”

[RWC] TMF likely didn’t intentionally spill the beans.  Neither the federal nor state governments “have any money.”  It’s good to remember any money government spends is confiscated from family paychecks, pension checks, Social Security benefits, traditional IRAs, 401(k)s, and so on.  It’s wrong for government to be in the medical care business, but at least there is more local control when it’s done at the state level.

“When the GOP shoves this ‘Trumpcare’ bill down our throats -- Democrats can’t stop it -- you’ll be stuck with lousy coverage at outrageous premiums, and the health-care companies will laugh all the way to the bank, acknowledging that your Republican-controlled government allowed it to happen.”

[RWC] Does TMF realize he described Obamacare?

You have to laugh when TMF complains the GOP will “shove this ‘Trumpcare’ bill down our throats.”  TMF had no problem when Democrats shoved Obamacare down our throats without a single Republican vote.

“If the government could keep health-care companies from rigging the whole system for astronomical profit, everyone would benefit.  But the GOP will never let that happen; too many campaign contributions to preserve the status quo.”

[RWC] Which “health-care companies?”  Doctors, hospitals, insurers, pharmaceutical businesses, etc.?  What constitutes “astronomical profits?”

For those hell-bent on a government-run, taxpayer-funded healthcare monopoly, why not ditch AHCA, Medicaid, Obamacare, and so on and implement Penncare?  Penncare could be whatever we want it to be and we Pennsylvanians wouldn’t have to worry about the feds meddling in our medical care.

As for “too many campaign contributions,” Mrs. Bill Clinton received $795 million and Donald Trump received $408 million for the 2016 election cycle.  The Democrat party raised $1,292 million and the Republican Party raised $969 million.

“I guess real patriots just keep their mouths shut and die.”

[RWC] Who are TMF’s “real patriots?”
