Dan Sainovich, Jr. – 9/9/12

Where are conservative legislators?; Dan Sainovich, Jr.; Beaver County Times; September 9, 2012.  At the time of this writing, this letter appeared only in the print edition of the BCT.  I apologize for any transcription errors.

Confusion I had dealing with “Dan/Danny Sainovich” letters from Industry/Ohioville is over.  After he read an April 2011 critique of one of his letters, Mr. Sainovich was kind enough to clear things up.  In an e-mail note, Mr. Sainovich wrote, “I thought I would shed some light on Dan vs Danny Sainovich.  Danny is my father and we both live in Ohioville.  His name is Danny and mine is Dan - you are correct that we do have opposite views on politics.  Actually there is no jr or sr but we have come to an agreement to use jr and sr so that folks don’t get us mixed up.”

Previous critiques of Mr. Sainovich’s letters are here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and hereMr. Sainovich is an administrative organizer for SEIU District 1199P.  According to its 2010 LM-2 report, SEIU National Headquarters spent over $55 million for “Political Activities and Lobbying.”  In 2008 and 2006, that figure was $67 million and $27 million, respectively.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“I am asking Reps. Christiana and Marshall and Sen. Vogel to save the taxpayers millions of dollars to repeal worthless and wasted legislation.”

[RWC] Mr. Sainovich must be referring to PA’s closed-shop labor laws.

“It is the Republican Party’s position that government waste and overregulation is hurting the taxpayer.  The state has set aside $1 million to provide free voter IDs to those who need them.  It is also using $5 million in federal aid to raise awareness of the voter ID requirement.”

[RWC] I agree this is a waste of money.  Public notices in newspapers, etc. should be enough.

Lefties rightly tell us “The right to vote is one of our most important rights,” then they go nuts when someone wants to protect that right.  Does anyone doubt Democrats required photo ID to enter the Democrat National Convention last week?

Last summer, Rhode Island passed a law requiring a photo ID to vote.  RI voters reliably vote Democrat and Democrats hold overwhelming majorities in both houses of the General Assembly.  The governor is an independent, a former U.S. Senate RINO with high ADA Liberal Quotients.  Further, leftist darling former-President Jimmy Carter supports a photo ID for voting.  This is info we’re not supposed to know.

Back in 2008, ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now), the recipient of in excess of $800,000 from the Obama campaign during the 2008 primary, was under investigation for voter fraud in at least 13 states, by Democrat and Republican officials alike.  This was a recurring problem since at least 2004.  As a result of one scandal after another, ACORN legally ceased to exist, though some of its chapters simply changed names.

Even if voter fraud were non-existent, should we wait until it becomes a problem?  At the same time lefties tell us “The right to vote is one of our most important rights,” they tell us we should not ensure only legal voters vote.  Rather than help people get the ID needed to vote, organizations like Mr. Sainovich’s employer (a leftist political-advocacy business) would rather do without photo ID.  You can read more on the topic here.

“Well, here is a perfect example – legislation that the state acknowledges in the stipulation agreement that it ‘will not offer any evidence in this action that in-person voter fraud has in fact occurred in Pennsylvania and elsewhere.’”

[RWC] “Maryland Democrat quits congressional race amid vote fraud allegations.”

The entire stipulation agreement is here.

“Please repeal the new voter ID law.  Six million dollars for a new law that will have no substantive effect on protecting the integrity of the election.  Those are not my words – that is the state’s position in the Supreme Court case.”

[RWC] Saying you are not going to present evidence of an activity is not the same as saying that activity doesn’t exist.  I can only assume Mr. Sainovich hopes most of us don’t read the entire stipulation agreement.  It takes a bit of creative reading to assert “the state’s position in the Supreme Court case [is the] new law … will have no substantive effect on protecting the integrity of the election.”

“Stupidity is when you realize you made a mistake and don’t take the proper actions to fix it.  Six million dollars can fix a lot of potholes, instead of putting the money down a hole.”

[RWC] What would it be called when leftists keep pushing the same policies, programs, etc. over and over again when history and logic show they don’t work?
