Alex Yawor – 9/12/12

This page was last updated on September 14, 2012.

Beware those in the background; Alex Yawor; Beaver County Times; September 12, 2012.  At the time of this writing, this letter appeared only in the print edition of the BCT.  I apologize for any transcription errors.

Mr. Yawor wrote at least 37 letters since 2005.  Some of Mr. Yawor’s previous letters attempted to bash then-President Bush regarding Iraq and Iran, and then-VP Cheney regarding his hunting accident.  In a July 2006 letter, Mr. Yawor implied if you supported our action in Iraq, you were “eager to send our young to die in Iraq.”  Two of Mr. Yawor’s letters tried to elevate Jimmy Carter (here and here).  The last Yawor letter I critiqued was entitled “CEOs are not saints.”

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“Why is it that the people that I presume are Republicans write about President Obama and high debt that he is causing?  Where were they when President Bush raised the national debt by more than $10 trillion and caused two wars that cost this country more than 6,000 deaths of our young men and women?  Let’s not forget the thousands and thousands or maimed for life, and the suicides.”

[RWC] According to the Obama administration’s own data, debt accumulated during the Bush administration was $4.4 trillion, not the “more than $10 trillion” Mr. Yawor claims.  Nearly $1 trillion came in 2008 after the mess caused by the government’s subprime mortgage program.  At the time the subprime lending mess happened, the deficit had been shrinking and was “only” about $160 billion.  The Obama administration’s data also estimates debt accumulated during the Obama administration will be $6.4 trillion by the end of 2012, 45% greater than during the Bush administration in half the time.  During the Obama administration, the smallest deficit so far has been $1.3 trillion.  None of this absolves Mr. Bush for his contributions, but we’re not where we are because of those policies.

President Bush “caused two wars?”  All I can say is, “wow!”

“I get letters from some people about President Obama and what bad things that he is done and what he is doing now.  When I checked their accusations, not one of them was true.”

[RWC] Who are these “some people?”

Mr. Yawor checked accusations about his guy President Obama and found “not one of them was true.”  Who would have guessed? <g>  I wonder why Mr. Yawor didn’t share these bogus accusations with us.

As I’ve written this before, I must be very lucky if letters like this one are to be believed.  To the best of my recollection, I haven’t received any of these alleged viral e-mail notes regardless of whom they attack.  I get lots of other e-mail, just none of the alleged political attack notes.

“Now a letter is sent out stating that President Obama is stockpiling massive rounds of ammunition and is planning on taking over the country.  If some maniac reads this, what would stop him or her from trying to kill the president?  Could this be what the people who are sending this garbage out are hoping for?”

[RWC] It’s too bad Mr. Yawor didn’t have the same concern for Mr. Bush.  Leftists demonized Mr. Bush 24/7 throughout his presidency and beyond.  Democrats routinely referred to Mr. Bush as Hitler, and let’s also not forget the books, movies, and plays that described the assassination of Mr. Bush.  I don’t recall reading any letters from Mr. Yawor opposing those acts.

“The people in Washington better start working together, because there are other people in the background at this very moment who are planning on doing what some Republicans are accusing President Obama of doing.”

[RWC] Who are these “some Republicans?”  Name names, Mr. Yawor.
