Betty Ann Bowser – 10/10/13

Tea Party dictates Republican Party; Betty Ann Bowser; Beaver County Times; October 10, 2013.

Previous letters from Ms. Bowser I know about were “Election will make or break us,” “What’s going on?”, “Why is Pennsylvania not thrilled with Obama?”, “A lot to answer for,” “Are Tea Partiers malcontents?”, and “‘Would Jesus be a Republican?’.”  I did not critique the last letter because it was a collection of unconnected sentences.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“Why has the Tea Party takes over the logic of the Republican Party?  It would seem that the Tea Party politicians keep tweaking each other to not compromise.  Is the Tea Party a pawn for ideologists who have great wealth?”

[RWC] The Tea Party has been a target of Ms. Bowser since 2010.

Who “tweaked” President Obama to say he would not compromise?  I believe the last sentence refers to the Koch (pronounced “coke”) brothers.  The Kochs are the latest lefty boogeymen because they are wealthy and contribute primarily to conservative candidates and causes.  If the Koch brothers contributed primarily to lefty candidates and causes, as do wealthy lefties like Peter Lewis (Progressive Insurance), George Soros (Wall Street hedge-fund manager), et al, they would be lefty heroes.

“Established Republicans seem to be confused by the harebrained antics of the Tea Party politicians.”

[RWC] Who are the “Established Republicans” and what are “the harebrained antics of the Tea Party politicians?”

“Affordable health care is now a reality for the U.S.  Tea Party followers who want small government are now spreading untruths to confuse and delay the reality which already exists.  Are any of these protesters accepting unemployment insurance, Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid?  Are they accepting remuneration for their dissension?  If they are, then they are perpetuating a double standard.  We are living in an age of instant information and gratification.”

[RWC] “Affordable health care is now a reality for the U.S.?”  On what basis does Ms. Bowser make this assertion?  What are the “untruths?”

As for “these protesters accepting unemployment insurance …” hypothetical question, where would be the double standard?  In these cases, “these protesters” would be showing the courage of their convictions by working to eliminate programs from which they may currently benefit.
