Don’t let hatred, fear cloud judgment; Jesse Green, Jr.; Beaver County Times; April 14, 2010.

Some previous letters from Mr. Green are here, here, here, and here.

As you read the letter below, keep in mind Mr. Green believes disagreement with President Obama’s policies is the result of racism.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“America has become a country of the haves and have-nots.”

[RWC] Note Mr. Green never tells us the qualifications for being a “have” or “have-not.”  This whole letter is an example of the left’s us vs. them strategy.

“There is no longer a working middle class, only the wealthy and the poor.  In the Bush/Cheney era, the gap between rich Republicans and the rest of the country widened threefold.”

RWC] Oh brother, the “rich Republicans” BS again!  Does Mr. Green really believe people buy this?  The last I checked, the Clintons, Corzines, Emanuels, Kennedys, Kerrys, Lewises, Obamas, Pelosis, Reids, Rockefellers, Soroses, et cetera are all “rich” and all are Democrats.

As with “haves and have-nots,” Mr. Green doesn’t define “working middle class, … the wealthy and the poor.”

“One tool the rich use to keep the masses under control is fear.  The insurance companies spent million [sic] of dollars fighting health care reform.  They targeted the poor, elderly and ignorant, telling them it is a bad deal.”

RWC] I guess that means “the poor, elderly and ignorant” are the majority in the country.

“One tool the rich use to keep the masses under control is fear?”  What about President Obama demonizing doctors?  What about promoters of a government-run healthcare monopoly constantly demonizing private insurers?  What about defenders of Mr. Obama claiming that opposition to his leftist policies is indicative of racism?  What about the bogus sob stories about people who allegedly didn’t get healthcare?  In the latest example of bogus sob stories, a woman we were told wasn’t receiving healthcare was interviewed from her hospitable bed at Cleveland Clinic!

“The insurance companies spent million [sic] of dollars fighting health care reform.”  If they did, so what?  The ultimate goal of Obamacare is to put private insurers out of business.  Are businesses targeted for execution supposed to do nothing and go along with it?

“They targeted the poor, elderly and ignorant …”  If this is true, whom did labor union management target?  Oh yeah, Mr. Green forgot to mention labor union management spent millions of workers’ dues to lobby for Obamacare.

Finally, why does Mr. Green group “the poor, elderly and ignorant?”  Does Mr. Green believe the poor and/or elderly can’t make informed decisions?

Please read my paper entitled “Healthcare.”

“U.S. Rep. Jason Altmire, who is a Republican in Democrats’ clothing, looked out for his wealthy colleagues and voted against the bill.  You can rest assured he has health insurance, as do his wealthy friends.”

[RWC] “U.S. Rep. Jason Altmire … is a Republican in Democrats’ clothing?”  Apparently Mr. Altmire’s Americans for Democratic Action lifetime Liberal Quotient of 88% and American Conservative Union rating of 24% aren’t good enough for Mr. Green.

“Smear and hate are other favorite tools of rich Republicans.  Bumper stickers proclaiming ‘Impeach President Obama,’ ‘He is not my president,’ or ‘They will never take my guns,’ along the Confederate flags, adorn pickup trucks everywhere.”

[RWC] “Smear and hate are other favorite tools of rich Republicans?”  Based on his letter-writing body of work, this must mean Mr. Green is a “rich Republican.”  Does Mr. Green read what passes as discourse on the left?

As for his bumper sticker comment, where does Mr. Green travel?

“You will never see a bumper sticker on a luxury car.  These people use the ignorant to do the dirty work for them.”

[RWC] Yep, those wich people sure are wascally.  In case you missed one of the letter’s themes, people who don’t share Mr. Green’s positions are “ignorant.”

“Use your head.  Don’t let fear or hate cloud your good judgment.  Rally behind the one president who is trying to do the right thing by all of us.  Support him, don’t tear him down. ”

[RWC] “Don’t let fear or hate cloud your good judgment?”  Based on his letter-writing body of work, this is “do as I say, not as I do” from Mr. Green.
