Matthew P. Maljevec – 7/8/07

GOP has ruined the nation; Matthew P. Maljevec; Beaver County Times; July 8, 2007.

Since September 2005, Mr. Maljevec treated us with three letters (here, here, and here) with “Impeach Bush” in their titles, merely bashed President Bush in a fourth letter, in a fifth letter Mr. Maljevec asserted, “Rendell is one of the best governors Pennsylvania has ever had,” in a sixth referred to Lynn Swann as a “wannabe” and to President Bush as “loser Bush,” and in a seventh sang the praises of Jimmy Carter while expressing displeasure that more politician children weren’t serving in Iraq, and I assume Afghanistan though Mr. Maljevec didn’t mention it.

This letter is similar in quality to Mr. Maljevec’s previous letters.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“Well, well, well.  The truth is finally out.  We have a dictatorial team in the White House - the three musketeers, of Bush, Cheney and Rice. What a team that is.”

“To hell with justice by the courts; we will do whatever it takes to take care of our friends’ friends no matter what.”

[RWC] Is anyone taking bets that Mr. Maljevec didn’t write a similar letter when Bill Clinton issued 140 pardons and commutations on his last day in office?

“Of the three, Cheney is the worst.  He is no doubt dominated by his wife, who tells him what to say and when and where to say it.

“Bush is a wimp, no doubt about it.  A rich spoiled brat who cannot do his own thinking and who sure can’t get a good speech out of his mouth.  He has one thing going for him - a smirk on his face which I would like to wipe off with my fist.”

[RWC] What is it with folks like Mr. Maljevec who believe name-calling actually helps their position?

“The Republicans have ruined this country.  They instigated a false so-called war, killed thousands of our youngsters and injured thousands more.”

[RWC] If Mr. Maljevec believes what’s going on in Afghanistan and Iraq is a “false so-called war,” I suggest he take his next vacation there.

If Mr. Maljevec wants to dump on Republicans, fine.  He appears to forget, however, Democrats have majorities in both the House and the Senate.  They recently had a chance to stop the war, but did not.

“And for what?  Nothing, that’s what.  If those religious nuts in the Middle East want to kill each other, all well and good.  We must not sacrifice any more lives for a false faith.”

[RWC] Brave men and women volunteer to serve, but Mr. Maljevec asserts they risk their lives for “Nothing, that’s what.”  Despite this, I’m sure Mr. Maljevec would claim to support the troops.

“What gets me is when those radicals cry to Allah and say ‘God is good’ before they kill someone.  Sure, God is good, but he does not want anyone to be killed in his name.

“I say pull our troops out and bring them back home to their families.  We have problems here.  Let those idiots kill each other over there.  A religious war will be fought till the end of time; there is no end to it.  History has proven this.”

[RWC] Has Mr. Maljevec failed to notice “those religious nuts in the Middle East” and “those idiots” want to kill us as well?  Has Mr. Maljevec been asleep since at least the 1970s?

“Remember this all you individuals who read this and say, ‘What can I do’?  Get off your butt and start to write.  I have said it before: ‘The pen is mightier than the sword - use it now’.”

[RWC] I am writing, it’s just not what Mr. Maljevec would like to read.
