Dissent is not the same as disloyal; David V. Matthews; Beaver County Times; September 14, 2008.

For background, in previous letters Mr. Matthews told us there’s no liberal media bias, President Bush committed treason, he’s positive creation played no role in our evolution, President Bush plans to nuke Iran this year (2006), “Centrism is Bushism,” the Bush administration may be “conducting warrantless surveillance upon” us, the Bush administration is “warlike and imperialist,” and President Bush “finds the war he started amusing.”  The last we heard from Mr. Matthews, he was engaged with Messrs. Thomas Finch, William Horter, and Dan Reeping in a battle of idiotic letters.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

Thursday’s editorial ‘Then and now’ stated that all — not some, all — Vietnam War protestors hated the troops and ‘hated America, too.’

“By implication, anyone who supported this war loved the troops and loved America, too.

“Thus, good Americans never dissent from the government, at least when it embarks upon its latest war.”

[RWC] If this is what Mr. Matthews got from the subject editorial, I believe that’s called creative reading.
