Republicans don’t have will to change; Jerry Miskulin; Beaver County Times; August 6, 2010.

I encourage you to review Mr. Miskulin’s body of work in the archives.  Mr. Miskulin has written at least 60 letters since 2004 (I didn’t critique all of them.).  Most (all?) are illogical and full of falsehoods (not just wrong).

In recent letters, Mr. Miskulin expressed displeasure with the tea parties (here and here), proclaimed “Rush Limbaugh is a propaganda minister,” and told us “Tariff is the best way to reduce deficit.”

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“The economic downturn in this country was started by Republicans and can only be solved by Republicans.”

[RWC] The idea Republican policies are responsible for our budgetary and economic problems is a recurring theme for Mr. Miskulin.  Other recent letters doing so were entitled “Reganomics has failed the country” and “Let Bush’s tax cuts for wealthy expire.”  For a discussion of what got us here, please read my critique of “Let us have some of the $700 trillion.”

“Let me give you a metaphor.

“Suppose the Los Angeles Lakers had all four of their starters under contract for three years, but Magic Johnson was in the final year of his contract.  Magic used to be a great team player, but with the allure of big bucks, things changed.

“At first, Magic was shooting a lot and the team was winning.  But after 20 games there was jealousy because the other members of the team weren’t getting their shots.  By the end of the season, the team was in disarray.  The next year, Magic signed a big contract and moved on to the Boston Celtics.

“I’ve been harsh on the Republicans at the federal level, but it’s sad to see what they’ve become - a party that hates the way things are but doesn’t have the courage to change, a party that doesn’t see itself clearly and so is afraid to move on.

“Let me tell you that things are bad, and they’ll just get worse as long as the first thing you look at is the purse.”

[RWC] Other than attempting to bash Republicans, can anyone explain this letter to me?
