Working poor are in a dire situation; Ann Stanton; Beaver County Times; January 23, 2011.

Previous letters from Ms. Stanton are here, here, here, here, here, and here.  They show Ms. Stanton is leftist and believes in a government-run, taxpayer-funded healthcare monopoly.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“The paper's editorial board has once again shown its concern about a very real problem that is occurring in this country with Sunday’s editorial ‘Squeezed Out.’

“It showed the issues that millions of people are facing every day and how they work in low-paying jobs without any relief in sight.

“Yes, they have lost the American dream.  How many more may be in this same situation before long?

“It could be another company closing or outsourcing jobs, an illness, death or other tragedy to put you in this downward spiral.”

[RWC] I believe Ms. Stanton meant “offshoring,” not “outsourcing.”  Outsourcing is when a business contracts with another business to perform some functions.  For example, a business may contract with a janitorial business for cleaning services instead of doing the cleaning with its own employees.

“These are hard-working Americans who take whatever jobs they can get.”

[RWC] Don’t lefties always tell us we need illegal aliens because they will take jobs our citizens won’t?  Which is it?

“Would they rather be working in jobs with good pay and benefits?  You bet they would, but where can they find one?

“As long as our elected officials in Washington aren’t in this dire situation, their focus will never be aimed at helping the working poor.

“Instead of talking about spending the rest of the year trying to repeal health-care reform, they should be looking at ways to create good jobs to help people climb out of poverty.”

[RWC] Ms. Stanton wrote at least four letters (here, here, and here, plus one I did not critique) lobbying for a government-run, taxpayer-funded healthcare system.

“Ignoring the problem won’t make it go away.”

[RWC] This letter isn’t about jobs.  It’s about protecting Obamacare.  If Ms. Stanton were serious, she would note the leftist policies and programs she supports run counter to her alleged concern about “the working poor.”

Finally, when will Ms. Stanton understand the leftist policies she supports never work and are at the center of our current mess?
