It’s time to spread love, not hate; Linda Vetterly (LV); Beaver County Times; October 10, 2017.
Previous Vetterly letters I reviewed were “President should represent the people, not get them killed,” “What’s it going to take to impeach Trump?,” “Trump has done nothing to improve the country,” “Trump needs to go before it’s too late,” “Trump threatens our status throughout the world,” and “Relieving real desperation.”
Below is a review of the subject letter.
“What is wrong with people anymore? Where is all this hate coming from?”
[RWC] Seriously? Does LV not read her own letters? Each of LV’s prior five letters this year (links above) were exercises in name-calling and personal attacks.
“We have mass murders in Las Vegas, bigotry against African-Americans, Muslims, women and anyone who is different. We have riots in the streets after a white police officer is found not guilty of shooting an unarmed African-American man. The president himself has preached bigotry against different religions and people.
“What happened to ‘love your neighbor’ and ‘do unto others as they would do unto you’?
“I worry about the world that my daughter is inheriting. The only way I sleep at night is because of the many courageous strangers that reach out to help.
“Don’t we have enough to fill us with fear without all of this horrible hate coming at us every day? We have hurricanes that destroyed so much of the US and people without clean water to drink or food to eat. We had horrible, uncontrollable wildfires in the West.
“We have the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. Church attendance is down and violence is up. A couple actually waterboarded their 12-year-old daughter and thought that was OK. We aren’t even allowed to do that to terrorists.
“Where have people’s morals and sense of right and wrong gone? I can only pray that the people who do things like this get punished and people learn the power of ‘love thy neighbor’ again.
“This country is going downhill fast. Spread love instead of hate or we will all pay the price in the end.”
