Many judge Obama by color of his skin; Lynn Coleman Gardner; Beaver County Times; July 23, 2010.

Previous letters from Ms. Gardner are here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“I wholeheartedly agree 110 percent with letter writer Thomas M. Finch (‘Anti-Obama letter was off the charts,’ Monday) regarding Dan Reeping’s letter (‘Many Obama voters were stupid,’ July 15).”

[RWC] Given Ms. Gardner’s letter-writing body of work, is anyone surprised she would agree with Mr. Finch?  As a reminder, Ms. Gardner “totally agree[d] with letter writer Stephen Kislock III” in her most recent previous letter.  Messrs. Finch and Kislock are peas in a lefty pod.

This is at least the sixth attempt by Ms. Gardner to defend Mr. Obama since March 2008.

“Reeping has his head in the sand and appears to be living in another world.

“President Barack Obama is a human being and hasn’t done everything right, but who in the world has?  There is so much, and I will call it what it is, racism in this world today, and, truly, that’s what many people’s problem is with our commander-in-chief.”

[RWC] Remember, this is the same person who referred to then-President Bush as “a no account.”  Ms. Gardner is black and Mr. Bush is white.  Is the apparent understanding for Mr. Obama and not for Mr. Bush because of ideology or skin color?  Using her reasoning about opponents of Mr. Obama, I guess her “problem … with our [then-]commander-in-chief” was racism/bigotry on her part, right?  Finally, exit polls for the 2008 election indicated about 96% of black voters voted for Mr. Obama.  I’d like to hear Ms. Gardner explain why that wasn’t “Many judg[ing] Obama by color of his skin.”

“I like how Finch put it in his letter to the editor, and it is so true: Obama will do more for the common good than any neo-cons will.”

[RWC] In my critique of Mr. Finch’s letter I wrote, “Mr. Finch likes to use the term ‘neo-con,’ but he never tells us what his definition is.  I suspect Mr. Finch just heard it somewhere and likes the sound.”  I believe the same is true of Ms. Gardner.
