Democrats want immigration reform, not a wall; Thomas M. Finch; Beaver County Times; January 11, 2019.

The BCT has published at least 71 letters from Mr. Finch (TMF) since December 2004.  At least 31 of these letters were anti-Bush and/or anti-Republican and they never disappoint.  Here is one example.  You can find the remaining Finch letters I critiqued in the critique archives.  As usual, this letter is little more than a string of leftist talking points.  I wish he could get a regular column in the BCT.  I also wish he could get at least five minutes per day on a local radio and/or TV station.  The most recent Finch letters I reviewed were “Time to wake up,” “Rothfus has done nothing; Lamb deserves a chance,” “Don’t believe what Republicans are selling,” “Trump got played; America got nothing,” “Truth may be disagreeable, but it’s not ‘fake news,’” “How can we support such an inept president,” “‘Trumpcare’ means lousy coverage, higher premiums” and “Trump doesn’t deserve to be admired, supported.”

Below is a review of the subject letter.

“I cannot believe that The Times ran Jayne Berresford’s excellent letter deriding Trump’s ‘boondoggle’ wall and immigration policy on the same page as O.J. Schlueter’s comparison of the same issues to the Ten Commandments.  I guess if you try hard enough, comparisons can be drawn between any two concepts, no matter how illogical the premise.

“We’ll leave the legitimacy of the separation of church and state on the sidelines for now while we examine Schlueter’s statement that ‘… the Democratic leadership and the Pope say they want open borders.’  Really?  Sounds like a Faux News lie for the gullible.”

[RWC] As for Democrat leadership, during a speech Leo Gerard gave from the back of a truck, the truck sported a banner saying “Solidarity Has no Borders – Comprehensive Immigration Reform Now.”

According to the Catholic News Service, “Pope Francis calls for open borders.”

So much for “Sounds like a Faux News lie for the gullible.”

Why does the Democrat party want – no need - open borders?  A couple of lefties (here and here) let the cat out of the bag; it’s Social Security and Medicare.

“Anyone who cares to research it will discover that Democrats support comprehensive immigration reform that fixes our broken system; improves border security; and prioritizes enforcement to target criminals - not families.  Democrats view immigration not as a problem to be solved, but as a defining aspect of American character and shared history.  Except for Native Americans, at one time we were all the byproducts of immigration.

[RWC] TMF didn’t define “comprehensive immigration reform.”  We have a comprehensive immigration system that’s been in place for decades.  If we enforce the system we have, what is “broken” about it?  It’s too bad TMF didn’t provide links to his research.

“Except for Native Americans …?”  I thought it was common knowledge the human race originated in Africa.  That means everyone here is a “byproduct of immigration,” including “Native Americans.”  TMF could be a science denier. <g>

“Trump’s wall obsession, along with his us-vs.-them mentality, serves only to further divide America, needlessly waste tax dollars and deny people the dignity and respect we all deserve.  To consider anything Trump to be related to the Ten Commandments - or any righteous endeavor - is an insult to humanity.”

[RWC] “further divide America?”  Consider the following exchange on a local lefty’s Facebook wall (9/27/11).

Lefty #1: “Capitalism has to go.  Merely taxing/regulating always fails in the end.”

Randolph Shannon: “Divide and conquer.  Take down the crazy bankers first.”

Randolph Shannon (RS) is Board Secretary of the national Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) and Treasurer of the local PDA – PA 17th (old 12th, old 4th) Congressional District Chapter.  RS’ wife, Tina (TS), is Chairperson/President of the local PDAKD, RS, & TS are members of the National Coordinating Committee of the Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism, originally a splinter group of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA).
